Holy Week
The week starting on Palm Sunday 28th March, and ending on Easter Sunday, 4th April, is the most important in the Church's year, as we remember together the most important week in the history of the world. Our Christian faith is focussed on the joy of Easter Day. But before we can celebrate the Resurrection we must go through the shadow and emotion of Holy Week. Holy Week and Easter Services
ON PALM SUNDAY we celebrate Jesus's triumphal entry into the city of
ON MAUNDY THURSDAY we return in heart and mind to the Last Supper, remembering that Jesus was the servant of all. In preparation for the dark hours of Good Friday we strip the church of colour and decoration.
ON GOOD FRIDAY we see Christ's total and limitless love for us all in his Crucifixion. The cross is at the centre of our devotions as we meditate on his courage and love.
ON EASTER DAY we experience anew the wonder and the joy of theResurrection of Christ. We read again the stories of that first Easter morning and join with Jesus's followers in every age and place as we seek to understand more of the amazing thing that God has done through his Son, our Saviour.
The Angel said: "Why do you look for the living amongst the dead? He is not here! He is Risen!"
