St George's Choir

The choir in concert, April 2008, conducted by Philip Asher. The Choir is the backbone to the musical life of St George’s. It sings for most Sunday services, offering a wide selection of anthems and music from the English choral tradition sung to the highest standards. The choir is a group of individuals from all walks of life - no superstars, just ordinary folk with a thirst for music and a desire to sing.

We are always eager to welcome new members to the choir - of any age or ability. The weekly rehearsal gives members the time and opportunity to develop their musical skills, as well as preparing for the services. A scholarship scheme was launched in 2007, offering a financial reward to a small number of young people who wish to explore the fine choral music and tradition we have to offer. Click here for more details of the scholarships available. Also, a financial incentive is available to members under the age of 16 as a reward for their hard work and commitment.
